The Ultimate Wedding Surprise
by SilverHook Studios on May.20, 2010, under Wedding Videography
So I’ve seen some of everything that happens at weddings. All types of surprise vows and all kinds of things to make the special day even better.
But I’ve never seen anything like Liz & Ford’s wedding. Ford being the ultimate University of Georgia fan (and alumnus), got quite the surprise. It’s nights like this one where we look back and really love our job.
Why Your Videographer Is Important
by SilverHook Studios on Apr.09, 2010, under Wedding Videography
We have bride’s call us all the time to inquire about our videography services, and every once in a while, we’ll have one that wants to put a price on what they think filming their wedding is worth.
Take our base package of covering the wedding only. One groom to be called us and was asking about the package, and his bride to be said there was no way she was paying that price for us to film JUST her wedding.
No harm no foul. To each their own.
However, I try to remind our clients that SilverHook Weddings does more than JUST film weddings. And on the most important day of your life, you want someone who knows what they’re doing behind the camera.
-Someone who knows how to white balance to make sure sure your wedding dress isn’t blue or yellow on the video
-Someone who knows how to correctly capture in the audio for the ceremony
-Someone who won’t be obtrusive to your guess or a nuisance during filming
-Someone who knows the best angle and place to film for the best shot
-Someone who’ll have a back up copy of the footage so they’re not calling you later saying they lost it
And that’s just the filming. After the wedding, the video is:
-Polished up and edited and made presentable
-A DVD cover, label and menu is designed specifically for your wedding (not a template)
-A DVD menu is created along with a scene selection and chapter menus for easy navigation
-A Hollywood style trailer is created to recap the day and posted online
-A proof DVD or Blu-Ray is created and sent to review
And these are just the things that come to mind in the moment. There’s so much more that goes into a SilverHook Weddings production.
And it’s at this point of the conversation the person on the phone, goes, “oh, I didn’t know you guys did all of that”, and we proceed to booking. Every once in a while it’s followed by a “well we just want something really simple”, and when we can work with people, we can. But when they’re looking for a bargain basement special, we usually tell them that’s not what we do and refer them elsewhere.
You really don’t want to spend all that time and effort planning a wedding and then cheapen out on the people who are documenting the day. Remember, the video lasts forever.
Hire a bad videographer and you’ll appreciate a good one. Remember to be seen, be heard, and be important!
Blast From The Wedding Past!
by SilverHook Studios on Apr.08, 2010, under Wedding Videography
We had a client call us up to book us for a wedding and asked about a couple’s video we did a few years ago that they had seen the sample for and absolutely loved. Since we usually only try to keep the most recent weddings online at SilverHook Weddings, we had took it down, but since it obviously sparked such a feeling, we thought we would post it again here.
We did a Post-Engagement Love Story Video for Lavita & Gary and integrated it into a clip of their wedding day. It’s been three years but this clip still makes me happy we did this wedding.
Separation Is A Good Thing!
by SilverHook Studios on Jan.12, 2010, under Wedding Videography
We’ve parted ways! Sort of. We’ve now separated our Wedding Videography company into it’s own entity SilverHook Weddings.
A wedding photographers website will have photos, a wedding florist site will have tons of flowers, our wedding videography site has video. And tons of it.
Since wedding videography was a big part of the business, it was time it had it’s own site and team to run it. So if you’ve visiting www.silverhookstudios.com looking for wedding videography, it’s moved!

We want to send a big thank you out to all of the brides-to-be who stopped by our booth yesterday at the Bridal Celebrations show at the Palace of Auburn Hills. We had an overwhelming response to our booth and appreciated all of you who helped make our attendance at the show a success. We are looking forward to serving you and capturing your wedding day the way it should be, with you as the star!
Thanks to my supportive team from the show as well, Brittney, Drew, & T, who worked an absolutely fabulous show and really handled all of the traffic well. Thanks guys, you help make SilverHook Studios the business that it is!
Here are a few photos from the show, one really nice one and a few taken from a camera cell phone, but you’ll get the gist of the interactivity of our booth. We received so many wonderful compliments about it. I won’t be surprised to see some of the competition attempt to copy.
I’m already ready working on ideas for the next show, so I’ll be keeping you on your toes!

Thanks again to everyone who came out and we’ll be looking to hear from you. Remember to be seen, be heard, be important!

Wedding Season Is Here!
by SilverHook Studios on Jun.04, 2009, under Wedding Videography
So everyone pretty much knows by now we specialize in Hollywood style wedding videos. Complete with trailers, custom effects, credits, designs and all.
We did a wonderful wedding this past weekend, and I got to thinking just how really old-fashioned we are when it comes to helping out with the smoothness of the wedding.
At the rehearsal we still think it’s important to have a stand-in for the bride. Let her enjoy her stroll on the day of the wedding to REALLY get the best reaction.
Stand up when the bride comes in, sitting down may be good for you be able to see, but it’s so much more official when everyone stands. Plus it makes the groom usually REALLY proud.
We may be vendors at the wedding, but we’re guests as well. SURE we can open the door for you or help set things up. This past weekend we helped the bride find a ring she lost on the dance floor (no not the wedding ring!)
This has been a great season so far! Our weddings started back in January this year, so now that the mid-year mark is coming up, we thought we’d let you kow how much we appreciate your support of SilverHook Studios. See you at the next nuptials!
Now Playing: Your Wedding
by SilverHook Studios on Dec.16, 2008, under Wedding Videography
As Michigan makes its transition into the next Hollywood with movie production being a big buzz as of late, we’ve turned a portion of our business to focus on film production and more cinematic type productions than just a point and shoot video house. Luckily our latest wedding video clients have gotten a change to be our test subjects per se and they love it. We’ve been taking a more production style to the wedding video and not just documenting what happened. We’re telling stories. Making you wish you were there to enjoy the celebration. And the best part about it is the acting is unbelievable. Because it’s really happening the way you see it.
